Just realize the cleaning lady that always ask as me 'chiak pah bueh' is missing lately. Where did she go?
It must be a insanity that made me agree to join the OCBC Cycling 2010 event. I didn't know I had to wake up 4.00++ in the morning to get ready as my session will be flagging off 7.30am. Doesn't seem to make sense right? Flag off at 7.30am and I need to wake up 4.15am. The truth is not matter how I count and count I still have to wake up at 4.15am after I plot the time I take to do various things.
First, need to block 15 mins for rolling on bed before I get up (dodge pillow, rotten eggs, socks..) Ya mer.... I like to roll on bed ma. Then need to bath and get ready. After that need to get there 1 hour earlier to grab my rental bike means have to be there by 6.30am. Then there is the travel time from home to event place at the F1 track. Lots of road blocks so taxi can only stop as far as they can stop. Then I also need to factor time in case I get lost walking to the destination from where taxi stopped. I don't trust myself despite Moo's repeated roll-eyes when I tell her, I need to buffer such time. How can someone be so well verse in geography and yet a direction idiot? Me lor ha ha ha...
To cut long story short, I did indeed buffer way too much time and I even get to cheer Moo when her category was flagged off at 6.30am. We are in different category, her - 4okm challenge while me in 20km fun cycle. Since I was so super duper early, I get to position my bike right in front of the line for my category.
For the first time there are not many people in front of me. I never ever stand in the front in my marathons and here I am, so 'gung ho' go stand at the beginning for an event I had never participate. After I got a place there, start having butterfly jitters together with ECM to the point we felt like going to toilet cause too nervous. But our location so close to the finishing line has its advantages. We get to see the winner of the 40km challenge fly passed us. I think that fella clocked around 50 mins. That kind of time, he must be cycling like a motorcycle lor.
Of course the course has it's up and downs, much different from the coaching sessions with Moo which is longer but the road is flatter. Anyway those sessions did paid off. I clocked around 1 hour 15 mins. I think it's a good time for me considering I stopped at 2 water stations. Talking about water station, the organizers go and named it "Aid station". I thought it was the mobile rescue team until I cycle passed it and saw the rows of water lining up. @#()*$)(@#*%.
Luckily I passed the blasted water station again from another side, who cares la, I just hitch my bike and walk up the slope and go grab water from another side. I am sure I startled a few people cause I come from the other side.
Moo said this Fun Cycle is no kick to me which is true up to a point. Yeah, I don't have the usual butt pain and muscle pain that usually comes with a training session with Moo but I am happy I don't need to walk like a crab once in a while. However after reach home, I crashed like a pig and sleep from 12pm to 5pm... ha ha ha.. Have to salute Moo- despite all the adversity she faced, she still manage to cycle her 40km and still go gym and came back late and still surf until late night only sleep. Tabik! She is like the energizer cow.
Guess next year have to go for 40km already, else Moo will roll her eyes at me :)
